We promote health and well-being through a variety of free fitness classes—both online and in person—tailored to meet diverse community needs. Why is exercise important for health?

Regular exercise reduces the risk of major illnesses by up to 35% (NHS), including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It improves strength, boosts mood, aids weight control, and enhances immunity. Just 150 minutes of moderate activity per week can significantly improve overall physical and mental well-being.

The Need for Exercise in Greater Manchester and the UK

In Greater Manchester, 32% of adults are physically inactive—above the UK average, where 1 in 4 adults exercise less than 30 minutes weekly. Inactivity is especially high among BAME women, carers, and housewives, increasing risks of obesity, heart disease, and poor mental health. The need for action is urgent.

Addressing the Challenges: Initiatives During COVID-19

During lockdown, we launched online exercise classes and home workout plans to keep people active and connected. These initiatives supported physical and mental well-being, helping individuals maintain healthy routines despite COVID-19 restrictions.
